Your pupillary distance (PD) is the distance between the centres of your pupils, in millimetres. It tells us where to centre the optical part of each lens.

Check your prescription first

Many prescriptions already include your PD. Your optometrist or optician can also give it to you.

Measure it at home

  1. Stand about 20 cm (8 in) from a mirror in good light, holding a millimetre ruler flat against your brow.
  2. Close your right eye and line up the 0 mark with the centre of your left pupil.
  3. Close your left eye, open your right, and read the number at the centre of your right pupil.
  4. Repeat three times and use the average.

Single PD or dual PD?

A single PD is one number, for example 63. A dual PD gives each eye separately, for example 31.5/31.5. If you have a dual PD, add the two numbers together and enter the total.

Typical ranges

Most adults measure between 54 and 74 mm, with the majority between 58 and 68. Children are usually between 41 and 55. If you are unsure, choose “Send it after checkout” on the product page and we will confirm your measurements before your lenses are made.
