The simplest rule: choose frames that contrast with the shape of your face, and match the frame size to your features.
Frames by face shape
| Face shape | How to tell | Frames that suit |
|---|---|---|
| Round | Similar width and length, soft curves | Rectangle, square and browline frames add definition |
| Square | Strong jaw, broad forehead | Round, oval and cat-eye frames soften angles |
| Oval | Longer than wide, balanced proportions | Most shapes work; try bold geometric or square frames |
| Heart | Wider forehead, narrow chin | Light oval or round frames, or bottom-heavy styles |
| Diamond | Narrow forehead and jaw, wide cheekbones | Cat-eye, browline and oval frames |
Getting the size right
Look inside the arm of glasses that fit you well. You will usually see three numbers, such as 52-18-140: lens width, bridge width and temple (arm) length in millimetres. Choose Specsly frames within 2 to 3 mm of those numbers. Each product page lists all three.
