Every pair of Specsly glasses includes lenses with anti-scratch and UV protection. Here is how to choose the right lens type and the upgrades worth paying for.

Lens types

Lens type Best for Price
Non-prescription Fashion frames, blue-light computer glasses with no correction Included
Single vision One prescription for distance or for reading +$39
Progressive (varifocal) Distance, middle and near vision in one lens, usually from your 40s +$129
Readers Close-up tasks when you only need magnification +$29

Single vision

Single vision lenses correct one field of vision across the whole lens. They suit most people who are short-sighted (a minus SPH on your prescription) or long-sighted (a plus SPH), including those with astigmatism (a CYL value).

Progressive (varifocal)

Progressive lenses change power gradually from top to bottom: distance at the top, screens and dashboards in the middle, reading at the bottom. You will see an ADD value on your prescription if you need them. Most people adapt within one to two weeks.

Readers

Readers magnify close-up tasks such as reading, sewing or phone use. Choose these if your optometrist has prescribed reading-only glasses.

Lens upgrades
